Those lucky enough to live in Marylebone often boast they are living in a village. And with good reason. Marylebone is a village, and residents can enjoy certain aspects of village life: local shops, a friendly atmosphere, and the feeling of living in a community.
And yet Marylebone residents live in the heart of one of the world’s busiest and most dynamic cities. Most of them are ambitious, hard-working people who, when their busy working day is over, often look for somewhere to relax and enjoy a meal with friends or family.
Your leisure time is no doubt precious to you. Use it wisely – and sample these restaurants in Marylebone and the surrounding area:
Marylebone residents are typically cosmopolitan in their outlook, so we’ve included on this list the Grand Bazaar. This is a popular Turkish restaurant just off Oxford Street.
Despite being close to the bustle of Oxford Street, Grand Bazaar offers an oasis of peace where customers can enjoy a huge range of traditional Turkish cuisine at very reasonable prices.
In addition to the excellent food, diners can indulge in Turkish coffee, tea, Champagne, wine and cocktails.

Now we have mentioned this restaurant in an earlier post, but this venue offers such a varied range of food that we consider it worth a second visit.
There is a ground-floor bar where you can enjoy a restorative cocktail or some local ale. We recommend sampling the daily fish market special.
On colder days, there’s an open fire. In summer, there are large French doors to open up and let in the fresh air.
There is also a first-floor dining room. Expect British cuisine and a preference for using seasonal produce. There is also the choice of superb wines from an extensive wine list. An excellent venue for a special evening out.

For a special occasion, it doesn’t get better than celebrity favourite, the Chiltern Firehouse.
Here, a Michelin-starred chef creates bold and tasty dishes. The menu includes halibut cooked over pine, peat-smoked short rib, and Galician veal fillet.
The food served in this establishment is of a very high quality, and the prices reflect this. However, you usually get what you pay for, and in Chiltern Firehouse, you get the best.

If you fancy a traditional pub with traditional ‘pub grub’, then the Three Tuns is ideal.
For real ale lovers, the Three Tuns has a range of cask ales, and even serve their own special pale ale.
The food menu includes a range of sandwiches and staunch pub favourites, such as sausages and mash, gammon served with a free-range egg and chips, macaroni cheese, and fish and chips.

While people enjoy eating their fish and Chips in a pub atmosphere, others may prefer to eat theirs in an old fashioned and traditional fish and chip shop. And there is no more traditional fish and chip shop than Golden Hind in Marylebone lane.
The golden Hind has been cooking delicious fluffy chips and juicy fish for over 100 years. They have battered their way through two world wars, the Bay City Rollers and punk rock and are still producing excellent fare.
So if you want to eat your fish and chips in one of the oldest and best fish and chip shops in London, then the Golden Hind is the place to head for.

There are many more excellent places to eat in Marylebone, and you can expect a diverse offering. It is this diversity that attracts people to Marylebone. One of our personal favourites is Galvin Bistrot de Luxe on Baker Street – we recommend a meal here too.
