London named the most popular city globally for student accommodation

London has come top in a list of the world’s most popular cities for student accommodation, with London receiving the most enquiries for accommodation from international students.

According to a global ranking report from Student.com, London received more enquiries about student accommodation than any other world city in 2017.

After London, Sydney came second on the list, Melbourne third, and Manchester fourth.

Luke Nolan, founder and CEO, Student.com, said: “our data indicates that there is still significant interest in the UK as a destination for international students – particularly from Asia and Europe.”

Nolan continued: “With global competition for international students increasing year after year, the UK should do everything it can to support the internationalisation objectives of its universities and maintain its attractiveness as a study destination.”

19% of students in higher education in the UK are from abroad, according to the Higher Education Statistics Agency.

It seems the taste for studying in the UK, and London especially, continues. And this is positive for buy-to-let investors and landlords in central London who want to invest in student accommodation.
