London Festival of Architecture Brings 400 Events to the Capital

London Festival of Architecture (LFA), the annual showcase of urban design launched at the beginning of the month. It brings an eclectic mix of events taking place until 30 June aimed at sparking discussions, testing new ideas and promoting talent.

London Architecture

After two years of lockdowns and restrictions, the theme of LFA 2022 is ‘act’ with events to explore how architects and citizens can shape the future of cities and the environment.

According to the festival’s director Rosa Rogina: “Despite the incredibly challenging time many have faced during the past two years, we have been overwhelmed by support for LFA as it returns across London at full power with the biggest programme of in-person events this June.

“LFA remains a city-wide celebration of architecture and city making, by providing a platform for all to test new ideas and challenge what is, in the hope of creating a better, more inclusive London, for all.”

The programme includes more than 400 specially-commissioned installations, talks and debates, performances, workshops, and family events, aimed at encouraging Londoners to interact with their city.

Events include:

  • Tomorrow’s Cities (26 June) – artist Maya Kincaid helps children explore their dream city in a hands-on making workshop aimed at bringing ideas to life through sculpture and drawing – for ages five to 16.
  • People, Place, Planet: how to create communities that last – this panel debate on the future of the built environment features architects, developers and community advocates – 6pm on 15 June.
  • Saving Aleppo – a talk by graduate architects working to restore and preserve the ancient Syrian city, devastated by 11 years of conflict – 22 June 12.30pm.

See the full programme of events on the festival website.
